With so many travel restrictions in place during COVID-19, it can be challenging to find places that are not only open but are taking the right precautions. If you are headed to the coast, specifically Lincoln City, you will want to make sure and check the Tuesday Night Outdoor Markets at the Lincoln City Cultural Center.

The new markets are known as the Tuesday Night Thing and will include food, arts, crafts, and other intriguing items of local origin. The event will go from 4 to 8 p.m., with the first hour carved out for the most vulnerable populations. And as you may already expect, masks are required for the event.

“In other cities, Tuesday might seem like an odd time for an event,” said Niki Price, executive director of the LCCC. “But we are a tourist town, and Tuesday night IS the weekend for many people in the hospitality industry. We're all looking for ways to enjoy ourselves while we keep our distance, and we thought that an outdoor market might be just the thing.”

At some point, when Oregon state and county guidelines ease up a bit, live music will also be introduced. To ensure safety for guests, attendance will be limited. Baked goods, produce, hot food, hand-crafted gifts, and soaps are just some of the things vendors will have to offer.

“The Tuesday Night Thing is a new program, inspired by the need for safe outdoor entertainment for Lincoln City residents as well as the need for vendors to reach their customers,” Price said. “Management will be making the best decisions we can, based on the best information available. We look forward to creating a fun, casual evening market for our community to enjoy.”

The event is expected to launch Tuesday, Aug 11, 2020, and will go until Sept 29.
