Oregon's northern coast has been the filming location of a number of great 80's and 90's films, but it's The Goonies that people love and remember the most. The Goonies has become a nostalgic cult classic, and brings thousands of people every year to Astoria Oregon and Cannon Beach to see where it all started. This year on June 7th marks the 36 year anniversary of the film's release, and with it comes a challenge from the Oregon Film Museum for fans.
The Oregon Film Festival Goonies Challenge
Hey you guys: between June 3rd and June 9th, 2021 the Oregon Film Museum invites Goonies fans to stop by and pick up a passport with 36 challenges. Those that complete at least 10 of the challenges will get a special 36th Anniversary commemorative button. Fans who complete 15 of the challenges will get an extra treat.
As you're exploring Astoria to complete your challenges, many of the community stores, restaurants and pubs will be offering special deals, which makes this the perfect week to get away to the Oregon coast. Some of the participating locations are:
- Oregon Film Museum (a great spot to pick up The Goonies Merchandise)
- Astoria-Warrenton Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center
- Astoria Brewing Company
- Astoria Column
- GB Jewlers
- Lower Columbia Bowl (one of the movie's filming locations)
- Gulley's Butcher Shop
