There is something about October in Central Oregon that feels made for wandering downtown with a warm drink in your hand, music drifting down the street and the smell of good food somewhere nearby.
That atmosphere will return to Bend this fall when the 2026 Ember Sauna Bend Fall Festival takes over downtown from October 2 through October 4.
The annual celebration is bringing back many of the things longtime visitors already know, including rows of artists and makers, live performances, food vendors, craft beverages and activities for families. This year, however, organizers are also adding something new to the weekend: a Harvest Bake-Off.
For three days, downtown Bend will become a gathering place for people looking to celebrate the changing season while supporting Oregon artists, small businesses and local organizations.
Visitors can expect hundreds of artisan booths filled with handmade and locally created goods. The festival has traditionally been the kind of event where you can spend an afternoon simply wandering, stopping to look at artwork, jewelry, home décor, clothing and other creations from makers around the region.

It is also a chance to meet some of the people behind the products, something that gives festivals like this a different feel from an ordinary shopping trip.
A New Harvest Bake-Off Comes to Bend
One of the biggest additions for 2026 is the festival's first Harvest Bake-Off, giving home cooks and bakers a chance to bring some friendly competition to downtown Bend.
Contestants will be able to enter pies, breads and chili for a chance to earn ribbons and prizes.
Space in each category will be limited, so anyone hoping to compete will want to keep an eye on festival registration information as October approaches.
Presentation will count for something too. Participants are being encouraged to decorate their entries and displays for fall, with a separate Best Display Award planned for competitors who really lean into the harvest theme.
It could easily become one of the more entertaining corners of the festival, particularly for anyone who considers pumpkin season an excuse to start baking everything in sight.
Live Music Throughout the Festival
Music will once again be a major part of the weekend.
Two headlining acts have already been announced for 2026.
Fleetwood Mask, a tribute to Fleetwood Mac, will bring the familiar songs of one of rock's most recognizable bands to the festival.
Also headlining is LowDown Brass Band, a Chicago group whose sound pulls together brass music, funk, hip-hop, soul and jazz.
The rest of the weekend will include performances from regional and local musicians, with live entertainment scheduled throughout the festival.
That combination of bigger acts and Oregon-area performers should give visitors plenty of opportunities to stop, grab something to eat and listen for a while before continuing through downtown.
Food, Beer, Cider and Fall Flavors
Of course, an Oregon festival would feel incomplete without plenty to eat and drink.
Food vendors will be serving throughout the weekend, while adults can find a selection of craft beer, cider, wine and spirits.
For visitors coming from outside Central Oregon, the festival can also serve as an easy excuse for a fall weekend in Bend.
October often brings cooler mornings, changing leaves and that crisp high-desert air that signals summer has finally given way to autumn. Downtown restaurants, breweries and shops are all within easy walking distance of the festival, making it possible to turn a few hours at the event into a full day exploring Bend.
Community groups and organizations will also have a presence at the festival, along with demonstrations and activities highlighting Central Oregon.
Families can expect interactive experiences designed for a range of ages, giving parents something to do beyond simply convincing their kids to walk past another row of vendor booths.
Whether you come for the music, the local art, a cold Oregon cider or simply the excuse to spend an October afternoon downtown, the Bend Fall Festival remains one of those seasonal gatherings that brings a little bit of everything together.
And this year, there may also be a prize-winning pie waiting somewhere in the middle of it all.
