A growing search effort is underway in Lane County after a 22-year-old Eugene man disappeared late last month, leaving family, friends, and search crews desperately looking for answers in the rugged wilderness east of Lowell.

According to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, Tyler Ryan Davis was officially reported missing earlier this week after loved ones had not heard from him since April 30. Investigators say his last known communication was with friends and family that day, and concern quickly escalated when his vehicle was later discovered abandoned near Lookout Reservoir.

The remote reservoir area, tucked deep in the forests east of Lowell, is surrounded by steep terrain, dense woods, and miles of isolated backroads. Since Davis’s vehicle was located there, an extensive search operation has been launched by Lane County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue teams.

Authorities say crews and volunteers have already poured more than 400 hours into the effort.

The search has involved an enormous coordinated response using drones, trained search dogs, boats, divers, and ground teams combing through difficult terrain around the reservoir and nearby forested areas. Searchers continue working tirelessly in hopes of finding any clue that could help bring Davis home safely.

Officials describe Tyler Davis as a white male, approximately 6-foot-2 and around 165 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Investigators say they do not currently know what clothing he may have been wearing when he disappeared.

Cases like this hit especially hard in Oregon, where vast wilderness areas can quickly complicate search efforts. Lookout Reservoir and the surrounding Willamette National Forest region are beautiful, but the landscape can also be unforgiving, particularly when there are few immediate leads about a person’s movements or condition.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have seen Davis, his vehicle, or anything unusual near the reservoir area around April 30 to come forward. Even the smallest detail could help investigators narrow down where to search next.

Anyone with information about Tyler Ryan Davis or his whereabouts is urged to contact the Lane County Sheriff’s Office at 541-682-4150, option 1.

As the search continues, family and friends are holding onto hope that answers will soon emerge.
