Four people—three children and one adult—were killed in Thursday’s shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, according to CNN reporting cited by KPTV. CNN attributed the information to law enforcement sources.
Bend Police said the suspected shooter was shot and killed inside the school. It remained unclear whether the suspect was included in the reported death toll of four.
Authorities also had not determined whether the suspect was shot by a police officer or someone at the school, according to KPTV.
Police said the first call came just before 1 p.m. on October 15, reporting that someone had fired a gun into a car. Additional callers soon reported that a person had entered Silver Rail Elementary, at 61530 SE Stone Creek Lane, and begun shooting.

Officers arrived within minutes. Shortly afterward, police learned that the suspected shooter had been shot and killed inside the building.
At least two people were taken to a hospital, police said. Authorities confirmed that children were among those hurt but had not clarified whether they were the same people transported. Their conditions had not been released in the report.
Families were directed to Journey Church, 61303 S. Highway 97, near Goodwill and Dairy Queen, for reunification. The public was asked to stay away from the school area and follow instructions from emergency responders.

Bend-La Pine Schools Superintendent Steven Cook expressed grief for the families, students and staff affected by the shooting.
“We are stunned and heartbroken by this senseless tragedy,” Cook said.
He said the district’s immediate focus was supporting students and staff and helping law enforcement and emergency crews.
This developing story is based on the KPTV report provided. The reported death toll, whether it includes the suspect, and the conditions of those hospitalized remain subject to clarification.
