So many restaurants out there claim to serve “authentic” Italian food, but when the Curbside Italian Kitchen in Silverton says it—they really mean it! The owners, Pietro Sangiorgi and Giulia Burato, are actually from Verona, Italy and purchased this adorable little cafe just last year. However, running a small-town restaurant wasn't always their plan.

Back in Italy, Pietro worked as a certified public accountant and Giulia as a medical doctor. When they first moved to the US, they landed in New York but soon realized they wanted a slower pace of life to raise their young daughter and stumbled upon Silverton, Oregon. They moved here in the spring of 2023 and saw that the Curbside Kitchen was up for sale and decided to take the plunge. Both Pietro and Giulia have cooked extensively for their families throughout the years and saw an opportunity to bring their love of traditional Italian cuisine to Oregon. Since then, the couple has been cooking up their hometown favorites and have made the Curbside Kitchen one of the most popular restaurants in town.

To start with, they only use the highest quality ingredients and nearly everything is made in house. One of their most popular menu items are the focaccia sandwiches made with fluffy bread made in house with Italian flour.   Their Classic Focaccia is a best seller and is made with fresh burrata cheese, mortadella with pistachio, pistachio cream, pistachios, extra virgin olive oil, and salt. You’ve also got to try their pizzas where you can find classics like Margherita and Pepperoni, but also creative concoctions like their Spring Pizza topped with tomato sauce, oregano, mozzarella cheese, burrata cheese, fresh arugula, prosciutto of parma, parmigiano reggiano cheese, and balsamic vinegar. You’ll fall in love with their pizza crust that’s baked to achieve that perfect balance of chewy and crispy.

There are also tons of awesome gluten free options like the Eggplant Parmesan, Caprese Salad, or Cannelloni Pasta with spinach and ricotta cheese. They can also make any of their sandwiches into a rice bowl. For dessert, indulge in their luscious gelato, tiramisu (they actually use Giulia’s mother’s recipe, and there’s a gluten free version as well), or cannolis.

The Curbside Italian Kitchen is open every day except Sunday and does catering as well so you can book them for your next event or wedding! Even if you don’t live around Silverton, the trip will be worth it for a taste of authentic Italian food—it’s a true hidden gem!
