After a recent tornado struck Rockaway Beach, Portland residents are being urged to brace for another bout of severe weather. The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed that an EF-0 tornado touched down in Rockaway Beach on Monday night, bringing 85 mph winds that toppled trees, damaged structures, and left one person injured.

Forecasts from the NWS indicate that Portland will face further adverse weather conditions, including a flood advisory extending through Wednesday night. Rain is expected to become heavier as the day progresses, with totals between a quarter and half an inch likely by evening. Wind gusts in Portland may reach up to 25 mph, increasing the likelihood of power outages and damage to trees, particularly along major thoroughfares like I-5 and Highway 101.

Thursday’s outlook includes steady rainfall with possible afternoon thunderstorms, which may continue to disrupt travel plans and outdoor activities. While showers might ease slightly on Thursday night, more rain is forecast for Friday, with a chance of patchy fog affecting visibility. High temperatures are expected to stay in the low 50s, with lows around 40 degrees through Friday night.

Residents in flood-sensitive areas should take precautionary steps, such as securing outdoor items, steering clear of flooded streets, and staying tuned to local alerts. Officials recommend following NWS updates closely and limiting non-essential travel on impacted roads.

As the weekend draws closer, Portland can expect continued rain with brief breaks of sun anticipated on Friday afternoon. However, wet conditions are projected to return by Saturday, so residents should remain alert as November's active weather pattern shows no signs of letting up.
