Six reader favorites span Portland rooftops, coastal lodges, and Eugene’s market district.

Oregon claimed six of the ten spots in Condé Nast Traveler’s new Pacific Northwest hotel ranking, with properties in Portland, Astoria, Gleneden Beach, Cannon Beach and Eugene. The magazine published its 2026 Readers’ Choice list on October 6. Its highest-ranked Oregon hotel was The Nines in downtown Portland at No. 3, followed by Cannery Pier Hotel & Spa in Astoria at No. 5.

The result gives travelers a compact snapshot of very different Oregon stays, from a hotel above a historic Portland department store to a riverfront property beside the Astoria-Megler Bridge. It is also a reader survey, not a statewide inspection or a declaration that these are objectively Oregon’s six best hotels. The distinction matters: the list covers hotels across the Pacific Northwest outside Seattle, and its other entries include Washington and Alaska properties.

The Oregon hotels on the 2026 list

  • No. 3, The Nines, Portland: 97.69.
  • No. 5, Cannery Pier Hotel & Spa, Astoria: 96.92.
  • No. 7, The Ritz-Carlton, Portland: 96.35.
  • No. 8, Salishan Coastal Lodge, Gleneden Beach: 95.25.
  • No. 9, Stephanie Inn, Cannon Beach: 95.00.
  • No. 10, Inn at the 5th, Eugene: 94.99.

In its published methodology, Condé Nast Traveler says readers rated candidates between April 1 and June 30, 2026. To qualify, a hotel needed a minimum number of responses and a minimum overall rating. Respondents used a five-point scale that the magazine converted to a percentage; the published score is an average of category-specific ratings. The magazine does not publish the response count for each Oregon hotel on this list, so a difference of a few hundredths of a point should not be read as a precise measure of which stay any particular traveler will enjoy more.

What each Oregon stay offers

The Nines, Portland

The Nines occupies the upper nine floors of the old Meier & Frank building beside Pioneer Courthouse Square. It gives a Portland visit a downtown address with MAX light rail close by, while Urban Farmer and Departure provide two very different places to eat without leaving the building. The historic shell and contemporary hotel inside make this the more established of the list’s two Portland choices. Our Portland travel guide has ideas for exploring beyond downtown.

Cannery Pier Hotel & Spa, Astoria

Cannery Pier reaches out into the Columbia River, with the Astoria-Megler Bridge looming beside it and river views from the rooms. The setting feels tied to Astoria’s waterfront rather than to a generic coastal resort: ships, weather and the working river are part of what you see. Its spa offers another reason to linger, and a trip up to the Astoria Column gives you a view back over the town and river.

The Ritz-Carlton, Portland

The other Portland entry, The Ritz-Carlton, is a newer downtown stay with a spa and Bellpine restaurant high above the street on the 20th floor. Its skyline outlook is a different kind of Oregon view from the three coastal hotels on this list. For a city weekend built around a special dinner or a little time at the spa, this is the Portland address to compare with The Nines.

Salishan Coastal Lodge, Gleneden Beach

Salishan sits among coastal trees near Siletz Bay, with a spa, golf course, on-site dining and access to the beach. It gives you room to settle into the central coast rather than treating a hotel as a place to sleep between stops. Our Oregon Coast guide can help you connect Gleneden Beach with other coastal towns. Salishan is dear to my heart: That Oregon Life has worked with the lodge extensively in the past, and I’ve stayed here many times over the years. Seeing it on this year’s list feels especially good to me, though I’d still suggest checking the current offerings before planning a stay.

Stephanie Inn, Cannon Beach

Stephanie Inn puts the beach at the edge of a quieter Cannon Beach stay. Its oceanfront library hosts an afternoon Northwest wine and beer gathering, and the inn has its own restaurant and spa. Some rooms face the Pacific, so check the room type if a particular view matters to you; our Cannon Beach guide has ideas for the rest of the trip.

Inn at the 5th, Eugene

Inn at the 5th sits within Eugene’s 5th Street Public Market, which puts shops and places to eat just outside the door. The hotel has rooms and suites with details such as local artwork; some offer balconies or fireplaces, so those are worth confirming when you book. It is the list’s only Eugene stop and a useful base if you want your visit to begin on foot in the market district. Our Eugene guide has ideas for exploring beyond the market.

There is a practical limit to what an awards list can tell you. Room rates, availability, renovation work, pet policies and services may change, and the magazine’s ranking does not replace checking a property’s current terms before booking. The survey is a starting point for comparing places to stay, with each property’s current booking details providing the final word.
