Sample wines with family and friends while eating fresh seafood from the Pacific Ocean as you immerse yourself in crafts and music! "The Original and Still the Best" is one of the biggest festivals of its kind in the country.

Newport Seafood & Wine Festival 2023

The Newport Seafood & Wine Festival has drawn revelers from far and wide since 1977. For the four-day event, Newport's population has grown from 10,000 to more than 25,000 in recent years.

There will be a huge tent next to the Rogue Brewery in South Beach for the Newport Seafood & Wine Festival, which is scheduled for February 23-26, 2023. During the four-day festival, over 150 vendors will sell wine, food, and crafts.

To promote Newport's seafood industry, as well as bring tourists to the coast at a quiet time of year, the first Seafood & Wine Festival was held in the local National Guard Armory. The next year, Mo Niemi of Mo’s Restaurant helped increase the size of the event by combining thirteen wineries with musical acts and arts and crafts booths.

In 1980, attendance grew to 8,000, and the event moved to South Beach's dry moorage building. During 1987, a Commercial Wine Competition was added to the three-day event.

Thousands of people visit Newport during the last full weekend in February for this four-day event. The best winter festival on the Oregon Coast features over 80 Northwest wineries, artisans, and musicians all under a tent next to the Rogue Brewery in South Beach.

More than 300 volunteers, a dedicated volunteer committee, and local support from city and county agencies make this event possible each year. For the past twelve years, Chinook Winds Casino Resort has generously supported the event as their presenting sponsor.

Among the festival's offerings is the longest-running wine competition in the Northwest, open to all participating wine vendors. At the beginning of February, a panel of five distinguished wine experts judges the Commercial Wine Competition, awarding bronze, silver, and gold medals, as well as Best in Show.

As part of the festival guide, medal-winning wines can be purchased by event attendees. A second aspect of the festival is the Amateur Wine Competition, where amateur winemakers submit their wines for judging and feedback.

An outdoor food truck area, a beer garden, and a stage with winemaker talks, demonstrations, and live entertainment will be included in the 2023 Seafood & Wine Festival. To reduce waste from vendors and attendees, the festival is also going green and will focus on composting.

Wine club members will receive quarterly wine boxes featuring wines from the Newport Seafood & Wine Festival, including gold-medal-winning wines from the Commercial Wine Competition, for the first time this year.

Tickets for the festival or each day can be purchased at the gate (depending on capacity) or online in advance. If you purchase tickets online in advance, you won't have to stand in line at the entrance to the event.

There is limited parking at the event, but a free shuttle will make many convenient stops around town throughout the festival. You can also find nearby lodging, but reservations fill up fast, so make sure you book in advance.

If it rains, don’t forget to bring warm clothes, raincoats, and umbrellas. The festival is only open to adults 21 and older, so make sure you bring your ID. We look forward to seeing you!
