Local history and character
Reedsport grew at the junction of the Umpqua and Smith rivers, supported by logging, fishing, and transportation. The dunes and river system now anchor its outdoor identity.
Reedsport works best as a gateway rather than a checklist destination. From here, travelers can move between giant dunes, the Umpqua River, elk meadows, Winchester Bay, and lighthouse country with very little congestion.
