Summer evenings in Southern Oregon have a way of slowing everything down. The sun hangs a little longer over the surrounding hills, the air finally cools after a hot afternoon, and people start looking for somewhere they can relax without feeling rushed. At Pheasant Fields Farm outside Medford, those evenings come with live music, good food, and a laid back atmosphere.

While plenty of people know the farm for its wildly popular harvest festival each fall, the Summer Concert Series has quietly become one of Southern Oregon's best ways to spend an evening outdoors. Whether you're planning a date night, meeting up with friends, or looking for live music under the open sky, Pheasant Fields Farm is a great place to spend a summer evening in Medford, Oregon.

On Saturday, August 15, Magnolia Boulevard takes the stage. The Kentucky band blends rock, blues, folk, and soul into what they describe as Appalachian Soul. Led by powerhouse vocalist Maggie Noelle, the group has built a reputation for energetic live performances filled with heartfelt songs and rich harmonies.

Just a few days later, on Friday, August 21, The Rogue Suspects present their tribute to Aretha Franklin. Expect soaring vocals, timeless soul classics, and plenty of audience participation. Don't be surprised if people are singing along before the night is over.

What To Expect During Summer Concerts At Pheasant Fields Farm

Concert gates open at 6 p.m. with music beginning at 7 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the show from the grass, while a limited number of tables and chairs are available on a first come, first served basis.

Kids twelve and under get in free, making these concerts an easy choice for families who want an evening out together without spending a fortune. Visitors should leave pets at home and plan to purchase food and drinks on site, as outside food and beverages aren't allowed.

Grandma's Country Kitchen Keeps Concertgoers Well Fed

Good live music deserves good food, and Grandma's Country Kitchen takes care of that during concert nights.

The menu goes beyond typical concert fare. Sandwiches include choices like The Farmhouse Italian layered with Italian meats, provolone, pepperoncini, crisp vegetables, and house made red wine vinaigrette. The Rustic Turkey and Pesto combines roasted turkey with pesto aioli, provolone, arugula, Dijon mustard, and house pickled onions on rustic sourdough.

There's a vegetarian option as well. The Farm Caprese features marinated tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, pesto aioli, balsamic glaze, and arugula served on ciabatta.

Those looking for something lighter can order the Harvest Quinoa Bowl with chickpeas, cucumbers, olives, peppers, feta, parsley, and lemon vinaigrette, or a fresh arugula and romaine salad finished with shaved parmesan, toasted almonds, and house pickled onions.

There's also a children's menu featuring grilled cheese, grilled turkey, or ham sandwiches.

At the beverage stand, visitors will find local beer, cider, and wine, along with sparkling water, kombucha, soda, and juice boxes.

It's an easy setup that lets people grab dinner, find a spot on the lawn, and settle in before the music begins.

How One Family Built A Southern Oregon Tradition

Owning a family farm had long been a dream for Ric and Jeri Reno. They wanted enough land to grow crops, raise animals, and build something the entire family could be part of. That dream became reality in 2003 when Pheasant Fields Farm was established as a working farm growing pumpkins and winter squash for what would become its annual harvest festival.

Today, family members continue to live throughout the Rogue Valley while helping operate the farm, with Erin Reno working full time alongside her father Ric and brother Jason coordinating weddings and events. While visitors may come for a concert or fall festival, they're also supporting a working family farm that's busy throughout the year.

Ask almost anyone around Southern Oregon about Pheasant Fields Farm and chances are they'll immediately think of October. For more than twenty years, the annual harvest festival has become a tradition for families across the Rogue Valley and beyond. Thousands of visitors make the trip each fall to celebrate the season with pumpkins and farm activities.

The festival includes a corn maze, hayrides, a cow train, petting zoo, animal exhibits, pumpkin picking, and the popular hay pyramid. Visitors can wander through flower displays for photos, browse vendors inside the old barn on select weekends, or stop by Grandma's Country Kitchen and the Sweet Shoppe before heading back out for more fun.

Fright After Dark Brings Halloween Thrills To The Farm

Not every autumn visit to Pheasant Fields Farm is about pumpkins and hayrides. On select nights during the harvest festival, the farm shifts gears for Fright After Dark (sometimes called Fright Night), a Halloween event featuring three immersive haunted attractions with live actors and thrilling scares. It's become a favorite for visitors looking to trade daytime family fun for something a little more intense after dark.

The haunted event is only held on select evenings each season, while the Harvest Festival continues throughout October with family friendly attractions and activities.
