LANE COUNTY, Ore. – A Springfield woman has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after admitting to a disturbing pattern of child abuse, including the use of a stun gun on her seven-year-old son.
Heather Black, 36, was arrested in October alongside her boyfriend, Brandon Rogers, following a months-long investigation led by the Oregon Department of Human Services. Authorities say the couple subjected Black’s two children—a seven-year-old boy and a four-year-old girl—to repeated abuse and mistreatment.
Graphic Injuries and Taser Threats
According to investigators, the boy’s body was found to be riddled with injuries, and he disclosed that a taser was used as a punishment. Officials say the young girl was also threatened with the same weapon, highlighting a pattern of intimidation and violence within the home.
Black and Rogers were each originally charged with 63 counts, including multiple felonies such as assault, criminal mistreatment, unlawful use of a weapon, and menacing.
As part of a plea agreement with the Lane County District Attorney’s Office, Black pleaded guilty to 11 charges. These included five counts of first-degree criminal mistreatment, five counts of second-degree assault, and one count of unlawful weapon use.
According to KEZI, She was sentenced to 15 years behind bars and will face an additional three years of post-prison supervision upon release.
Brandon Rogers remains in custody and is scheduled to stand trial in February 2026.
