The Oregon Coast Aquarium Will Fully Reopen August 24th, 2020

After a five month closure and partial 'outdoor exhibit only' reopening earlier this month, the Oregon Coast Aquarium is now ready to reopen fully to the public. While some areas such as the cafe will remain closed, guests are in for a treat as the aquarium used the closure time to remodel a new colorful Indo-Pacific Coral Reef exhibit.

Even though Lincoln County (where the aquarium resides) is still only in phase 1 of reopening, Oregon is now allowing museums, zoos and aquariums to reopen. The aquarium will reopen on August 24th, 2020 at 9:30 am.

A new one way path has been set up through the aquarium (including indoor exhibits), along with other new safety measures guests and staff must follow. Here's what you need to know about your upcoming visit:

  • Admission
    • All tickets must be purchased in advance online. No tickets will be available on-site. You can reserve your tickets here.
    • The Cafe, touch pool, nature trail, kids play area, water fountains and POD restrooms will remain closed at this time.
  • Sanitation
    • Staff will frequently be disinfecting surfaces. Most doors leading outside will be propped open, including restroom doors. Every other restroom sink will be closed.
    • There will be hand sanitizer stations throughout the museum grounds.
  • Public Safety
    • Face coverings are required for all visitors, staff, and volunteers. There will be free disposable face coverings available at the entrance. Face shields are available for those who require ADA accommodation.
    • Guests must practice physical distancing, and there will be limited group sizes.
    • Guests must follow the one way path through the aquarium.

  • Other Information
    • No outside food is allowed, though you may bring your own reusable water bottle and fill it at the filling stations.
    • Pets are not allowed past the front gates unless they are certified service animals.
    • No reentry will be allowed.
    • No handouts, maps or brochures will be available.
