A former high school principal with ties to Oregon has been sentenced to more than five years in prison after being convicted of possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material, a case that has left many people shaking their heads in anger and disbelief.
Jeremy P. Williams, 50, of Longview, Washington, previously served as the principal of Rainier Junior/Senior High School in Rainier, Oregon. According to court records and reporting out of southwest Washington, Williams was sentenced on February 23 to five years and one month in prison.
In addition to prison time, he has been ordered to register as a sex offender, pay $3,000 in court fees, and will serve three years of probation following his release.
And honestly, it’s hard to even write that without feeling a level of disgust that’s difficult to put into words.
Arrest Followed Prior Controversy
Last year, Williams was arrested in September after investigators were alerted through automated systems used by social media platforms. Authorities say known sexually explicit images involving children were being shared from an internet account linked directly to him.

Cowlitz County Chief Criminal Deputy Troy Brightbill said at the time that multiple alerts had been triggered, leading law enforcement to act quickly.
Before his arrest, Williams had already been placed on paid administrative leave by the Rainier School District. According to a September 17 letter from Superintendent Chad Holloway, that action stemmed from controversial remarks Williams made about conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Kirk had been killed just a week earlier while speaking on a college campus in Utah, making the timing and nature of those comments especially disturbing to many in the community.
No Evidence Involving Students
Authorities have stated there is no indication that Williams possessed images of students from Rainier Junior/Senior High School or had directly victimized anyone within the school.
But for a man in a position of trust, responsible for hundreds of kids, that detail doesn’t exactly offer much comfort.
There are just under 800 students enrolled in the Rainier School District. Families trusted this man to lead, to protect, and to set an example. Instead, what they got was something far darker.
Courtroom and Background Details
During his sentencing, a reporter from The Daily Chronicle in Longview noted that Williams offered only a barely audible apology in court.
The same report also revealed that Williams had previously boasted about receiving awards for his erotic fiction writing, a detail that now takes on a far more disturbing tone given the nature of his crimes.
Williams had served as principal since 2022 and officially retired in November. His final salary was reported at $99,500 per year.
A Case That Leaves People Angry
There’s no clean way to wrap a story like this.
When someone in a leadership role at a school is convicted of crimes involving the exploitation of children, it hits differently. It’s not just another headline. It’s a betrayal of trust at the highest level.
And yeah, I’ll say what a lot of people are thinking… this guy is an absolute disgrace. A position that should have been about protecting kids was instead tied to something deeply disturbing and inexcusable.
Five years doesn’t feel like enough to many, and it probably never will.
But at the very least, he’s no longer in a position of authority, and he’ll be held accountable for what he did.
