Local history and character
Tillamook takes its name from the Tillamook people. Dairy farming became central to the valley’s identity, while logging, fishing, and transportation across the Coast Range shaped the town’s growth.
Tillamook is not a resort town, and that is part of its appeal. Dairy farms, timber history, river country, and the Three Capes create a grounded base for exploring beaches that feel far quieter than their scenery suggests.
