People just north of us in Yelm are shaken after investigators say they uncovered something truly horrifying inside one Washington couples home. Detectives say it was a disturbing plan to abduct a child, drug them, and commit crimes that are almost beyond comprehension. According to FOX 13 out of Seattle, 28 year old Hailey Rose Davidson and 28 year old William James Moore II were arrested after investigators found evidence no family in the Pacific Northwest ever expects to see so close to home.
This case began when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children sent a CyberTip to law enforcement. The tip involved hundreds of child sexual abuse images that had been uploaded to a Google account over the last two years. Detectives traced that account to Davidson and Moore, which led them straight to the couples home in Yelm.
Inside the house, investigators say they found handwritten plans detailing how to abduct a child. The notes reportedly described where to take the victim, how to switch vehicles, and instructions to keep the child unconscious the entire time. Deputies say they also found bottles of Trazodone, a powerful sedative, and none of it was prescribed to either person living in the home.
The search got even worse. Inside a bedroom closet, detectives discovered a hidden space behind a wall panel. Court documents describe it as a kind of shrine containing illegal material. Investigators also say they found videos that Davidson recorded by placing her phone under a bathroom stall while young girls changed into swimsuits. Detectives say you can clearly see tattoos on Davidsons arm in the footage which helped confirm she was the one who recorded it.
Prosecutors say Davidson admitted that Moore had been stalking multiple families with young children, even going so far as to drive to Wisconsin to find a family he had become obsessed with. Investigators say the couple had been talking with local families and kids, and based on everything they uncovered, it felt like only a matter of time before a child was hurt. It is the kind of revelation that makes you stop and wonder what kind of world we are living in, when people like this can move through our communities, smile at neighbors, and quietly plot something so evil behind closed doors.
Both suspects have appeared in court and are now being held in the Pierce County Jail on two point five million dollars bail each. They are charged with attempted kidnapping in the first degree, attempted child molestation in the first degree, and nine counts of possessing child sexual abuse material. Prosecutors also added sexual motivation enhancements which could increase the amount of time they face if convicted.
The investigation is still active. Detectives are sorting through large amounts of digital evidence and prosecutors say more charges could be filed. Davidson and Moore are set to return to court later this month.
