So apparently in Oregon, condos now come with bonus amenities like… a free roommate. A story at Fox News reports authorities have arrested 40-year-old Beniamin Bucur after discovering he had turned a crawl space under a Happy Valley condo into his own personal “tiny home.”

We’re not talking a blanket and a flashlight here. Deputies say Bucur had “a bed, lights, chargers, TVs, and other electronics plugged into the power of the house.” Basically, HGTV meets Breaking Bad.

Police say a pipe with white residue testing positive for meth was also part of the crawl space starter kit. (Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office)

Neighbors started to catch on after hearing “strange noises” and spotting Bucur sneaking to the back of the building like Gollum coming home from Costco. When deputies showed up, they found the crawl space door damaged, locked, and—of course—an extension cord running out like it was the world’s least-subtle renovation project.

Inside, they discovered string lights, a flat-screen TV literally tied to a beam, and a meth pipe that tested positive. Because obviously no man cave is complete without questionable décor choices.

Deputies say Bucur had “taken significant steps to improve the conditions” down there. Translation: it was probably nicer than most Portland studio apartments.
