One of Oregon’s most haunting unsolved missing-person cases is getting renewed national attention as part of a new true-crime series from Freeform and ABC News Studios.
The disappearance of Kyron Horman, the Portland-area second grader who vanished from Skyline Elementary School in 2010, will be featured in an episode of Somebody Knows Something, a new documentary series hosted by Kara Robinson Chamberlain.
The episode, titled “Lost at the Science Fair,” is scheduled to air Monday, September 7, on Freeform, with episodes of the series also streaming on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ following their television broadcasts.
Kyron was seven years old when he disappeared on June 4, 2010. He had arrived at Skyline Elementary School that morning for a science fair, where the now-familiar last known photograph of him was taken standing beside his red-eyed tree frog project.
He never made it home.
According to Freeform, Somebody Knows Something revisits high-profile unsolved murders and disappearances with Chamberlain working alongside families, investigators and members of the true-crime community. Chamberlain is herself a kidnapping survivor and former law enforcement officer. Each episode ends with an appeal for anyone who may have information about the featured case to come forward.
The Kyron episode arrives as investigators are also using new technology to take another look at the enormous case file.
As we reported in 2025, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office had begun digitizing thousands of pages of reports, photographs and evidence from the investigation so the material could be more easily reviewed and analyzed. In June 2026, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office announced that the entire Kyron Horman case had been digitized, allowing detectives to search and analyze more than 5,300 documents and over half a terabyte of data using newer technology. The sheriff’s office has also increased staffing on the investigation and continues working with the FBI, Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, Portland Police Bureau and other agencies.
Sheriff Nicole Morrisey O’Donnell said earlier this year that despite 16 years passing, investigators remain committed to finding answers for Kyron and his family.
