Grab your shades, Oregonians, because warmer and sunnier days are finally heading our way! Starting Wednesday, the greater Portland and Vancouver metro areas will bask in some much-needed sunshine.

After a chilly, frosty morning in the Willamette Valley, temperatures will climb into the upper 60s by this afternoon. Thanks to a strong ridge of high pressure and some friendly northeasterly winds, the warm-up will continue Thursday as temperatures reach into the low 80s.

But wait, there's more! Friday and Saturday could bring near-record-breaking heat, and we might even see our first 90-degree day of the year. That's right, folks, it's time to shed those rain jackets and break out the sunscreen!

However, let's keep things cool when it comes to Oregon's icy rivers and streams. They might look inviting, but they're still way too cold for a casual swim. If you plan on taking a dip, wear a life vest and be cautious of the snowmelt filling up those waterways.

And to top it all off, we’re in for a wonderfully sunny and warm Mother’s Day this year! Temperatures will stay above average through the start of next week, with a dry spell that could last seven to ten days. That means you can finally enjoy some uninterrupted Vitamin D right here in Portland!
