This is just the beginning of heavy snow and high winds this week for much of Oregon, including several areas of the Oregon coast.

There are currently 13 winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories active in Oregon for November 30th, 2022 to December 1st, 2022. Check out the list below to see if your area will be affected by a storm Wednesday into Thursday:

• Northern Oregon Cascades in Lane county, Government Camp, Santiam Pass, McKenzie Pass, Detroit, Oakridge, Willamette Pass. Warning in effect until 10 PM Wednesday. Travel will be difficult.
  • Heavy snow up to 20 inches and winds up to 45 miles per hour. The snow level is expected to drop to 1,000 feet Wednesday night as it continues to snow into Thursday.
• Eastern Curry County, Josephine County, Eastern Douglas County Foothills.
  • Warning in effect until 4 AM Thursday above 3,000 feet and to 10 AM Thursday above 1,500 feet. Travel will be difficult and there will be reduced visibility due to blowing snow.
  • Above 3,000 feet heavy snow from 6 - 15 inches and winds up to 40 MPH.
  • Above 1,500 feet snow from 1-4 inches.
• South Central Oregon Cascades, Southern Oregon Cascades, Siskiyous, Includes I-5 near Siskiyou Summit and portions of highways 62, 66, 138, 140 and 230.  Warning in effect until 4 AM Thursday. Travel will be difficult to impossible with blowing snow and reduced visibility, as well as downed tree branches.
  • Heavy snow from 10 - 20 inches and winds up to 50 miles per hour or more over exposed terrain.
• Klamath Basin, Northern and Eastern Klamath County, Western Lake County.  Warning in effect until 10 AM Thursday. Includes Highways 97, 140, 31, and 139. Travel will be difficult with blowing snow and reduced visibility. Heavy snow may result in downed trees and power outages.
  • Heavy snow of 5-10 inches and winds up to 45 miles per hour over the mountains and 35 miles per hour in the rest of the affected area.

• Central And Eastern Lake County including highways 31, 395, and 140.  Warning in effect until 10 AM Thursday. Travel will be difficult due to blowing snow and reduced visibility.
  • Snow expected from 2-6 inches with winds gusting as high as 45 miles per hour.
• South central Oregon coast, Curry county coast, Central Douglas county, Jackson county.  Warning in effect until 10 AM Thursday. Travel could be difficult.
  • Snow showers expected above 1,500 feet. Total snow from a trace up to two inches, but up to 40 inches above 2,500 feet.
• Coast range of northwest Oregon.  Warning in effect until 9 AM Thursday. Slippery roads.
  • Snow from 2 - 6 inches with up to 2 inches at lower elevations.
• Eastern Curry county, Josephine county, Eastern Douglas County foothills.  Travel could be difficult. Warning in effect until 10 AM Thursday.
  • Above 3,000 feet heavy snow of 6-15 inches and winds as high as 40 miles per hour.
  • Above 1,500 feet, snow showers expected with 1-4 inches of snow.
• Harney county, Malheur county.  Warning in effect until 11 PM Thursday. Travel could be very difficult with slippery roads.
  • Snow expected from 1-3 inches, and 2-4 inches over the mountains.

• Northern Blue Mountains of Oregon.  Warning in effect until 4 PM Thursday. Travel will be difficult to impossible with patchy blowing snow and reduced visibility.
  • Heavy snow from 6-12 inches with winds as high as 45 miles per hour.
    • Southern Blue Mountains of Oregon.  Warning in effect until 4 PM Thursday. Slippery road conditions. Mixed precipitation with snow up to 6 inches, ice, and winds as high as 40 miles per hour.
• East slopes of the Oregon Cascades.  Warning in effect until 4 pm Thursday. Travel will be difficult to impossible with blowing snow and reduced visibility.
  • Heavy mixed precipitation with snow from 12-24 inches near the crest, along with ice and winds up to 45 miles per hour.
• Northern Oregon Cascade foothills and Cascade foothills in Lane county.  Travel could be difficult. Warning in effect until 5 PM Thursday.
  • Snow from 4-10 inches above 1,500 feet. Snow level will drop to 1,000 feet Wednesday night with additional snow Thursday.

It's best not to travel during these winter storm conditions. If you must travel, be sure to keep food, water, blankets and a flashlight in your car. Follow all road signage that requires snow tires or chains.
