Cannon Beach at Ecola State Park on the Oregon coast is a favorite spot for many Oregonians, but was recently shut down due to storm damage to the road into the area. Crews are currently evaluating the road damage and soil conditions as well as repair options, though there is no timeline for reopening.

Heavy rains created a landslide alongside one section of the road which damaged the roadway. The slide also damaged the State Park's main water line, shutting running water off to the park. The gravel surface of the road is currently uneven, and unsafe. The route in is also unsafe due to potential for more landslides.

Those who want to go to the beach in the area will want to go to other parks such as Hug Point State Park, Oswald West State Park, or Arcadia Beach State Recreation Site.

You can check for updates on the closure here.
