Vinnies Doesn’t Mess Around When It Comes To Sandwiches

The grinder itself has a bit of history behind it. Some sources say the name traces back to shipyards in New Bedford, Massachusetts during World War II. Local Italian vendors would sell oversized sandwiches to the men working on steel ships (laborers who were nicknamed "grinders" for the physically demanding job of grinding and installing steel rivets). These hefty sandwiches were filling enough to power through a long shift, and they eventually took on the name of the workers who ate them.

That same blue-collar spirit carries through at Vinnies where oven toasted grinders steal the spotlight. The Vinnie Special brings together ham, pepperoni, melted cheese, and a house secret sauce, finished with crisp pickles, bell pepper, tomato, and onions, all seasoned with olive oil. The Capone is similarly stacked, adding salami to the mix for those craving a bit more punch. For something with serious melt appeal, The Fink delivers pastrami with two cheeses and mustard (sweet hot or classic), with onions and pickles.

Those in the mood for something warm and hearty should check out the The Philly, a classic steak sandwich that’s pan-seared, topped with sautéed peppers and onions, and served on a garlic mayo hoagie roll. Cheese choices include pepper jack or provolone, with mushrooms and pepperoncinis available for an extra kick.

Vegetarians have a tasty option called The Bribe. It’s a colorful, cheesy mix of grilled veggies and secret sauce on a toasted roll. And cold hoagies aren’t overlooked. The Bootlegger layers ham, salami, Swiss and American cheese, and all the fresh fixings, finished with olive oil.

Every sandwich comes with chips or potato salad, and if bread isn't calling your name, any sandwich can be turned into a salad on mixed greens. Seasonal soups are a popular add-on, though not always available during summer heatwaves. And for a little sweet indulgence, those in the know keep an eye out for the amazing brownies.
