Start with the guest list

Which Hood River wedding venue
fits your plans?

For a river-view wedding, compare Columbia Gorge Hotel & Spa and The Griffin House. For an orchard setting, look at The Orchard and Mt. Hood Organic Farms. Hood River Hotel is the downtown ballroom option, while Westcliff Lodge offers outdoor grounds and onsite lodging for couples planning farther ahead. Narrow the list by seated guest count, weather arrangements, and where your guests will sleep.

Columbia Gorge Hotel & Spa

The hotel’s lawns and ballroom give you several layouts to consider. Point Lawn accommodates up to 200 guests, West Lawn up to 175 seated, and Benson Ballroom up to 110. The property has 40 guest rooms.

If you are planning a larger outdoor wedding, ask where everyone would sit in bad weather. Get the ceremony and dinner backup in writing before booking.

Five more places to consider.

These are different kinds of weddings. Use the details below to decide which venues deserve a tour.

Orchard & mountain views

02

The Orchard

Pine Grove · Hood River Valley

Pear trees, views of Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams, and an open-air reception barn make this an option for a valley wedding. The venue hosts up to 175 guests, Friday through Sunday, from May through October.

You must use Celilo for catering and hire a wedding planner from the venue’s list. Review both arrangements before comparing its fee with a venue where you hire everyone separately.

Good fit
Couples who want an orchard setting and are comfortable with the required team.
Ask on your tour
How is the open-air barn prepared for rain, cold, or wind?

Cliffside river views

03

The Griffin House

Westcliff area · Hood River

The Griffin House pairs a cliffside setting with indoor getting-ready areas and a 2,600-square-foot clear reception tent. Published seating capacity is up to 175 guests. You can choose your caterer and planner, subject to the venue’s approval.

A tent lets you keep the river setting for dinner, but you still need the venue’s exact weather plan. Ask who supplies sidewalls, heating, and any changes to the ceremony layout.

Good fit
Couples who want a private-property setting above the Columbia.
Ask on your tour
What does the venue coordinator handle, and what will your own planner need to do?

Downtown & indoors

04

Hood River Hotel

Downtown Hood River

The Emerald Room accommodates up to 120 seated guests or 150 standing. An indoor reception and hotel room blocks may suit a weekend built around downtown.

The hotel allows outside catering, while event alcohol must come through the hotel. Its full-buyout description offers access to a room block for all 41 accommodations; room charges are separate from the package price.

Orchard & mountain views

05

Mt. Hood Organic Farms

Mt. Hood community · Upper Hood River Valley

This orchard property hosts receptions in the Apple House. Its wedding season runs from Memorial Day weekend through the first weekend in October, with a 75-guest minimum.

The maximum is 175 in July and August and 150 in the other published seasonal windows. Confirm the limit for your exact date, particularly around Labor Day. The site says 2026 is fully booked and is taking 2027 inquiries.

River views & onsite lodging

06

Westcliff Lodge

Westcliff area · Hood River

Westcliff offers outdoor event grounds and onsite lodging. Its FAQ says there is no indoor event space. Couples can choose their own caterer, but should price the rentals needed for the complete setup.

The website currently says all 2026 and 2027 event openings are reserved. It lists May 1–October 17, 2028 at $7,900 per day. That is a venue fee, so ask for the full list of inclusions and additional charges.

What does a Hood River
wedding venue cost?

Get a quote for the same guest count and date at each venue. A site fee, a food-and-beverage minimum, and a package with furniture included tell you different things about the final bill.

Hood River Hotel publishes 2027–2028 Standard and Getaway packages from $3,000 to $9,000, depending on season and weekday or weekend. Its full-buyout fees range from $7,000 to $12,000. See the package table below.

Westcliff lists a $7,900 daily venue fee for its 2028 season. Request date-specific quotes from Columbia Gorge Hotel, The Orchard, The Griffin House, and Mt. Hood Organic Farms.

Send your tentative date, seated guest count, ceremony plans, and lodging needs in the first inquiry. Ask each venue to separate required charges from optional extras so you can compare the totals.

These are package fees. Ask for catering, bar, staff, and guest-room charges separately. The full-buyout fee excludes the guest-room block.

The brochure and website differ on bar gratuity and some bunkhouse inclusions. Ask the hotel to confirm those terms in your dated proposal.

Make the weekend work

Plan for the people
coming to celebrate.

01

The date & the weather

A summer date still needs a plan for Gorge wind, heat, and smoke. A spring or fall date needs comfortable shelter and a clear decision about when the ceremony moves. Ask who makes that call, how late it can happen, and who changes the setup.

Some valley venues operate only during their published wedding season. Choose your dates with the venue before booking the rest of your team.

02

Where guests will sleep

Onsite hotel rooms can shorten the trip home after dinner. Downtown can work well for guests who want restaurants and coffee between events. An upper-valley venue calls for a separate lodging and transport plan.

Ask about room-block deadlines, minimum stays, and who pays for unused rooms. Put a clear lodging deadline on your wedding website.

03

Getting everyone there

Give guests the venue’s confirmed arrival instructions. Arrange the ride home as carefully as the arrival, including the final pickup and a contact number. Ask the venue where a shuttle can turn around and wait.

Guests traveling through the Gorge can check ODOT TripCheck for current road conditions before leaving.

04

Access & downtime

Ask about accessible parking, restrooms, paths, and seating at both the outdoor ceremony and its backup. A property’s atmosphere does not tell you whether every guest can get around it comfortably.

Give guests a few nearby ideas instead of a packed itinerary. Our Mt. Hood & Columbia Gorge guide can help them plan the rest of their visit.

Build your wedding team

Choose vendors around
the venue you’ve booked.

Photographers

Ask to see a complete gallery from a wedding with similar light and spaces: an outdoor river ceremony, a shaded orchard, or an indoor reception. You need to see family photos and dinner coverage as well as the couple’s portraits.

Ask how they work around wind, midday sun, dark reception rooms, and a ceremony moved indoors. Confirm coverage hours, a second photographer, travel charges, and delivery terms.

Planners & coordinators

Start with the venue’s rules. The Orchard requires a planner from its list. Elsewhere, ask which jobs belong to the venue coordinator and which belong to your own planner.

Share the guest count, weather plan, transport arrangements, and every vendor’s arrival window. Someone needs to manage the day when you are busy getting married.

Catering, flowers & transport

Confirm catering and bar restrictions before hiring anyone. Share the venue’s setup time, rental list, and kitchen access with the caterer.

Ask your florist how the ceremony arrangements will hold up in the planned conditions and whether they can move to the reception. Give transport providers the real passenger count and venue access instructions.

A few planning questions

Before you book.

How much does a Hood River wedding venue cost?

Hood River Hotel’s 2027–2028 Standard and Getaway package fees range from $3,000 to $9,000; full buyouts range from $7,000 to $12,000. Westcliff publishes $7,900 per day for its 2028 season. These figures are venue or package fees, and other costs depend on the arrangement. Compare the published rates and request an itemized quote for your date.

Which options have hotel lodging onsite?

Columbia Gorge Hotel & Spa, Hood River Hotel, and Westcliff Lodge have onsite hotel lodging. Confirm the room block, minimum stay, and whether room charges are included in the package you choose.

Which venues have an indoor wedding space?

Columbia Gorge Hotel lists Benson Ballroom, and Hood River Hotel lists the Emerald Room. Confirm your ceremony and dinner layouts with the venue. The Orchard’s barn is open-air, The Griffin House uses a reception tent, and Westcliff says it has no indoor event space. Mt. Hood Organic Farms describes Apple House as indoor/outdoor; confirm the weather layout for your date.

Can we bring our own caterer?

Hood River Hotel and Westcliff publish flexible catering policies. The Griffin House allows your choice of caterer and planner with venue approval. The Orchard requires Celilo. Check the exact contract at every venue, including bar rules, kitchen access, staffing, and cleanup.

Is every venue in downtown Hood River?

No. Hood River Hotel is downtown. The Orchard is in Pine Grove, and Mt. Hood Organic Farms is farther up the valley in the Mt. Hood community. Check each venue’s address before choosing guest lodging or arranging transportation.

How far ahead should we ask about dates?

Ask once you have a workable guest count and date range. Published availability already differs between these venues: Westcliff lists 2026 and 2027 as full, while Mt. Hood Organic Farms says it is booking 2027. Confirm directly before hiring vendors or sending invitations.
