Artist Talk with Teresa Getty

In conjunction with Teresa Getty's exhibit in the Buckley Center Art Gallery, Getty will discuss how the rhythms of caregiving have shaped her artistic practice and the making of Diagnosis: Superstar. The talk will explore the ebb and flow of creative work and how paintings can move between being an outlet for lived experience and a carefully held space for vulnerability. Through this conversation, Getty invites viewers to consider care not only as a medical practice, but also as a creative and deeply human one.

Please join us prior to the talk for the artist reception in BC Gallery with Teresa Getty from 4:30 - 5:45 p.m., and on September 22 from 1-3 p.m. with Teresa Getty for a hands-on drawing activity inspired by her studio practice. Participants will use a simple transfer technique and oil pastels to transform images into their own unique artworks. All materials provided. No prior art experience necessary. BC Art Gallery.
