SILETZ, Ore. — New developments have emerged involving the parents of Dane Paulson, the child who drowned in the Siletz River last year.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded at approximately 12:11 a.m. on January 23, 2026, to a reported domestic disturbance at a residence in the 21000 block of Siletz River Highway in Siletz. Deputies were assisted at the scene by Toledo Police.

Investigators determined that a physical altercation occurred between siblings at the residence. Authorities say 39-year-old Daniel Jackson allegedly initiated the confrontation with his sister, 36-year-old Chamet Jackson. Daniel Jackson was arrested on a charge of fourth-degree assault constituting domestic violence for allegedly causing physical injury to Chamet Jackson.

Further investigation led deputies to arrest Chamet Jackson and 41-year-old Aaron Paulsen on charges of third-degree assault constituting domestic violence for allegedly causing injury to Daniel Jackson. Deputies reported that the assault involved repeated punching and kicking and occurred in the presence of a juvenile child who resides at the home.

At the time of the arrests, the child was reportedly in the care of a family friend.

Both Daniel Jackson and Chamet Jackson were treated at the scene for injuries by the Siletz Valley Fire Department.

Authorities confirmed that Chamet Jackson and Aaron Paulsen are the parents of Dane Paulson, who drowned in the Siletz River in 2025. Paulsen is currently awaiting pre-trial proceedings in Lincoln County related to Dane Paulson’s death.

Following their arrests, Chamet Jackson and Aaron Paulsen were booked into the Lincoln County Jail, where they remain incarcerated as of the latest update. The incident has also been classified as reckless endangerment due to the presence of a child during the altercation.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office stated that the investigation remains ongoing and that additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Updates will be posted as they are confirmed.
