There aren’t many places in Portland where a dining tradition has stood strong for over 80 years, but RingSide Steakhouse has done just that. Since opening its doors in 1944, this family-owned steakhouse has remained a local staple for classic, upscale dining. Housed in a distinctive brick building in Nob Hill, its old-school charm is matched by the consistently top-tier experience offered inside.

RingSide has become something of a legend among locals, and it’s easy to see why. A visit often begins with the house’s most iconic appetizer: a generous plate of their signature onion rings. The menu keeps the bar high with other standout starters like the tamarind-glazed pork belly served with spiced carrot purée or the miso-glazed octopus finished with coconut red curry and fried sweet potato. For seafood lovers, the chili-lime Dungeness crab cakes deliver bright, bold flavors with just the right amount of crunch.

Of course, the main attraction is the steak. Whether it's the bone-in ribeye, center-cut New York, or an 8-ounce Prime filet mignon, every cut is aged for at least four weeks to develop flavor and tenderness. The kitchen also offers prime rib with horseradish and Yorkshire pudding as part of a three-course special on Monday nights, while early and late evening diners from Tuesday through Thursday can enjoy a perfectly prepared filet mignon with mashed potatoes.

Beyond beef, the menu highlights the best of the Pacific Northwest’s bounty, like local lamb, fresh seafood, and expertly fried chicken. Sides are designed for sharing, and dishes like the lobster mashed potatoes or bourbon creamed corn with smoked garlic and pickled Fresno pepper turn dinner into an event.
