Grab your poles and your crabbing rings, because this weekend it will be free to fish, crab or clam Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 17-18.

KMTR reports while licenses or tags are not required this weekend, all other fishing regulations apply including closures, bag limits and size restrictions. As also noted by the news, make sure and check the  Fishing section of the Recreation Report for the zone you want to fish to find the latest regulations for salmon fishing, steelhead or marine species like rockfish.

ODFW also provides a great resource for hike-in lakes here, if you are thinking about heading to the mountains and want to explore one of Oregon’s higher elevation mountain lakes.

Headed to Oregon’s beautiful coast this weekend? The latest suggests rockfish, tuna and coho salmon has made for some great fishing this year. Crabbing is also currently open everywhere on the entire Oregon coast. Don’t forget to check out ODA shellfish restrictions before clamming or crabbing!
