How on Earth did I not know about this place until recently? If you are headed to Central Oregon, there's a little local favorite known as Manley's Tavern where the mouthwatering chicken is a favorite with locals and campers alike, and absolutely worth dropping in for.

Manley's Tavern is one of our new favorite stops

On a recent camping trip to an RV Park near Crescent Lake, the anticipation built up as my girlfriend, alongside my father and his wife reminded me more than once how just how great their broasted chicken is. And they were absolutely right, I can't recall the last time I had chicken this good eating out anywhere in Oregon. It's also worth noting this spot isn't too far from Crater Lake if you happen to be headed that way.

For $12.50 you will get half a chicken. To feed 4 adults and 2 children, we went with about 4 orders. The chicken was tender, juicy, and full of flavor.

The chicken is served with sliced potatoes, also known as "Jo-jos". The potatoes are tender and crispy and will come served with ketchup, hot mustard, and ranch dressing. Oh, and if you love spicy food like me, make sure and try their jalapeno ranch as well, which I found out about when asking for fry sauce!

And Manley's offers more than just chicken if you are feeling like trying something different. Manley’s also does fried mushrooms, fish, steak basket, chili dogs and more.

While we patiently waited, we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and had a couple of drinks at the bar. The wait wasn't long and everything about this place made me feel at home.

You'll find this A-frame log cabin off the side of Highway 58, about 80 miles southeast of Eugene. The tavern, which has a full bar, welcomes all and on any given day and offers large booths that will easily fit around six people. Make sure and bring cash, as they do not accept plastic. If you don't have cash, there is an ATM available at the pub to grab some.
