The Homestead Trailhead, which provides access to the northern portion of the popular Sweet Creek Trail (#1319), has been closed until further notice after significant boardwalk damage was discovered. The update was announced in a social media post from the Siuslaw National Forest, which urged visitors to avoid the area while repairs are underway.

Although the northern access point is temporarily shut down, hikers can still reach Sweet Creek from the south via the Sweet Creek Falls Trailhead. This alternate entry remains open and continues to offer access to the lush canyon, cascading waterfalls, and creekside pathways that make the trail one of the coast range’s most beloved hikes.

Forest officials are asking the public to be mindful of workers and equipment in the area. Temporary or intermittent closures may also occur along Forest Service Road 48 (Sweet Creek Road) near the Homestead Trailhead over the next several days as crews assess and repair the damage.

Visitors planning a trip to the region are encouraged to stay updated and check for new announcements. More details can be found on the U.S. Forest Service website.
