Eugene residents are reminded to stay alert and cautious after a troubling incident occurred on the evening of January 11, 2025. Two women in their 20s were stabbed near W. 2nd Avenue and Madison Street, prompting a swift response from the Eugene Police Department and Eugene Springfield Fire. Fortunately, both victims were transported to a local hospital and are expected to recover from their injuries.
The two women were walking north along the west side of Madison Street around 7:49 p.m. when a man, initially standing near a large tree, began to follow them. According to reports, the man attempted to rob them, making aggressive punching motions that escalated into a stabbing attack. Fleeing for safety, the women managed to hide inside their vehicle and call the police.
Upon arrival, Eugene Police and first responders provided assistance and transported the victims to the hospital. While their injuries are described as non-life-threatening, the incident has left many in the community shaken.
The suspect is described as a white male in his 40s, approximately 5’6” tall, with a medium build and broad shoulders. Witnesses reported that he had shoulder-length curly blonde hair, a brownish-blonde beard, and was last seen wearing a blue shirt, beanie, black jacket, and tan cargo pants. The two victims did not recognize the assailant.
The Eugene Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is actively investigating the case. As of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities urge anyone with information to come forward. This disturbing incident highlights the importance of community vigilance and personal safety.
