If you notice more gatherings popping up across Portland later this month, it’s part of a coordinated nationwide day of demonstrations.

Dozens of “No Kings” protests are planned throughout the Portland metro area on Saturday, March 28. The events are being organized locally by the Portland Metro Indivisible Network in partnership with the No Kings Coalition, with similar demonstrations expected across the country.

According to organizers, more than 1,000 events are planned nationwide, including over 60 across Oregon. Cities like Astoria, Bend, Medford, Beaverton, and Hermiston are all expected to see some level of activity.

A Growing Nationwide Effort

The “No Kings” demonstrations aren’t new to Portland.

Similar events were held throughout 2025, including a large gathering at Tom McCall Waterfront Park that drew significant crowds, along with smaller protests spread across bridges, parks, and neighborhood intersections.

Organizers say participation has continued to grow, with millions attending events nationwide over the past year.

What to Expect on March 28

This year’s theme, “Everybody, Everywhere, All At Once,” reflects a focus on widespread, local participation.

Rather than one central rally, events are intentionally spread out across neighborhoods, making it easier for people to participate close to home. That means you may see activity in multiple parts of the city at the same time.

Planned events range from organized marches and union-backed gatherings to smaller neighborhood demonstrations and banner displays on freeway overpasses.

A larger rally and march is expected near the Oregon Convention Center, while a centralized gathering is scheduled along the waterfront near the Battleship Oregon Memorial.

Locations Across Portland

Neighborhood demonstrations are planned at intersections across the city, including areas in Southeast, Northeast, and Southwest Portland. Many of these gatherings are scheduled for late morning.

Additional visibility actions are planned on overpasses, including along Highway 26 near Sylvan, where participants are expected to display banners to passing drivers.

Afternoon events will continue at central locations, including the waterfront, where larger crowds are expected.

A Visible Day Across Oregon

With more than 60 events planned statewide, March 28 is expected to bring noticeable activity not just in Portland, but across much of Oregon.

As with any large day of demonstrations, drivers and residents may encounter increased foot traffic, gatherings at intersections, and activity on overpasses throughout the day.
