If Eugene had a food love language, Kasumi House would be fluent in it.

This isn’t one of those places that tries to impress you with buzzwords or over-designed plates. Kasumi House is cool in the way that feels effortless. The kind of cool where the menu actually delivers, the vibe is relaxed but intentional, and you immediately start planning what you’re ordering next before you’ve finished your first bite. It's Japanese comfort food at its finest.

Tucked along West 11th, Kasumi House feels like it slid perfectly into Eugene’s food scene without trying to reinvent it. Warm wood tones, clean lines, just enough energy in the room to feel alive without being loud. It’s casual, but not forgettable. Comfortable, but dialed in. The kind of spot you end up recommending like you discovered it first.

And then there are the sushi tacos.

The Sushi Tacos You’ll Be Thinking About Later

Let’s not dance around it. These are the reason you come back.

Kasumi House’s sushi tacos land at the table looking like they know exactly what they’re doing. A crispy, tempura-fried seaweed shell. Perfectly seasoned sushi rice. Fresh fillings layered with purpose, not chaos. You can choose from options like salmon, tuna, shrimp, or soft-shell crab, each one balanced with creamy kani salad, sauces that hit without drowning anything out, and that crunch that makes people stop talking mid-sentence.

They’re bold without being messy. Playful without being gimmicky. Familiar enough to feel comforting, but different enough to feel exciting. One bite in and you get it. This isn’t fusion for the sake of fusion. This is someone paying attention.

They’re also dangerously shareable. You tell yourself you’ll split them. You won’t.

Comfort Food In The Best Way

Beyond the tacos, the menu keeps the momentum going. Sushi rolls that lean creative but stay grounded. Nigiri and sashimi that taste clean and confident. Ramen that feels rich and soothing without putting you into a food coma. And then there’s the Avocado Bomb: an entire avocado stuffed, lightly fried, and finished with sauces that somehow make it even better than it sounds.

Bubble Milk teas here aren’t an afterthought either. The brown sugar milk tea, with chewy house-made tapioca pearls, hits that sweet spot between dessert and drink. It’s the kind of thing you order “just to try” and end up craving later that night.

The Tonkotsu Ramen is such a dream. You've got the deep, slow-simmered pork broth with real body to it, rich without being greasy. Springy noodles, tender pork, and thoughtful toppings come together in a bowl that feels comforting and substantial. This is the kind of ramen you crave when it’s raining sideways outside.

An order of the Melting Scallops roll does not disappoint. This roll does exactly what the name promises. Sweet, tender crab and scallops come together with savory tempura shrimp, layered over warm rice so they actually melt into every bite. Finished with mozzarella cheese, unagi sauce, and spicy mayo, it’s smooth, indulgent, and quietly luxurious. The kind of roll you order once and immediately miss when it’s gone.

The Go Crazy roll turns up the heat in the best way. Bold, dramatic, and absolutely loaded with crab and spicy tuna. A crispy base of fried tortilla anchors layers of cream cheese and jalapeno, all topped with spicy mayo and unagi sauce. It’s creamy, spicy, and deeply satisfying — the kind of dish that makes the table pause for a second after the first bite.

Kasumi House Works So Well in Eugene

Kasumi House feels like Eugene. Not in a forced way, but in the way good places always do. It’s unpretentious, creative, relaxed, and quietly confident. You can show up in a hoodie. You can bring friends from out of town. You can come solo and sit with a bowl of ramen and your thoughts. It all works.

And most importantly, it makes you want to eat there again. Not someday. Soon.

If you’re the type who chases new flavors but still wants comfort, if you love sushi but want something just a little unexpected, or if you simply want a meal that feels fun without trying too hard, Kasumi House is it.

Start with the sushi tacos.

You’ll figure out the rest after.
