Nearly 15 years after Kyron Horman vanished from Skyline Elementary School in Portland, Oregon, the case is receiving renewed attention. The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, in collaboration with Gresham Police detectives, has been working over the past year to digitize and reorganize the entire case, scanning thousands of pages of reports, photos, and evidence.
Once this digitization process is complete, the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) will reexamine the files. The BAU specializes in behavioral and psychological analysis, reviewing past statements and evidence to provide investigative recommendations based on patterns from similar historic and current cases nationwide.
Multnomah County Sheriff Nicole Morrisey O’Donnell emphasized the ongoing commitment to the case, stating, “We have never stopped searching for Kyron. We remain steadfast in our commitment to bring resolution to this case, for Kyron, for his family, and for the community. With the support of our partners and the public, we are actively pursuing every credible investigative opportunity. Kyron and his family are at the heart of our work".
Last week, Multnomah County District Attorney Nathan Vasquez also reaffirmed his office's dedication, noting that they have begun a thorough and methodical review of the case with fresh eyes. He added, “Our focus remains where it has always belonged—on Kyron and his family.”
As the 15th anniversary of Kyron's disappearance approaches, a candlelight vigil is planned at Skyline Elementary on June 1 to honor him. The community is encouraged to attend and show support. Kyron's family asks that anyone planning to attend bring their own folding chair, but they add that flameless candles will be provided.
