TPUSA confirmed to Fox News that Kirk had been shot, though his condition remains unknown. A spokesperson for Utah Valley University police told reporters that shots were fired from a nearby building, and Kirk was escorted away by his security team. The courtyard was quickly cleared.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox said updates will be shared as more is learned and vowed that those responsible “will be held fully accountable.” Other officials, including Senator Mike Lee and California Governor Gavin Newsom, condemned the shooting and called for an end to political violence.
The FBI confirmed agents are monitoring the situation and will support the ongoing investigation.
Shortly before the incident, Kirk had posted on social media celebrating the tour’s launch at Utah Valley University.
At this time, few details are known about Kirk’s condition or the identity and motive of the shooter. Updates are expected as the investigation continues.
