After years of renovations, delays, and anticipation, Kah-Nee-Ta Hot Springs Resort has finally announced its reopening date.

The Warm Springs resort revealed on Monday that it will welcome guests again starting Thursday, July 18. Visitors can look forward to enjoying new hot spring soaking pools, poolside cabanas, and updated food and lodging amenities. According to the Kah-Nee-Ta website, day passes will be available from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, priced at $39 on weekends and $29 on weekdays.

Owned and operated by the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, the resort had originally aimed to reopen in 2023. However, severe spring storms caused construction delays, pushing the reopening to summer 2024.

In June, the resort shared enticing images of its new soaking pools, with their inviting aquamarine waters contrasting against the desert landscape. The resort features a total of seven pools, including a children’s spray pool, a sports pool, a lazy river, and soaking pools. Additionally, there are three wellness soaking pools with temperatures ranging from 92 to 103 degrees, along with 15 VIP poolside cabanas.

Accommodation options at Kah-Nee-Ta include 20 teepees, 30 hotel rooms, and an RV park equipped with showers, laundry facilities, and a game room. Dining options will feature an outdoor food court and a new sports bar and restaurant, which is currently under construction.

Originally constructed in the 1960s and ‘70s, Kah-Nee-Ta became a cherished retreat on the east side of Mount Hood. However, in 2018, the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs announced the resort's closure at the end of the summer, citing financial unsustainability and the need to protect the tribe from economic risk.

In 2022, a turning point came when the tribe announced a partial reopening of the resort, facilitated by a partnership with nearby Mt. Hood Skibowl and $6 million in new funding. This funding, provided by the American Rescue Plan Act, included $1.5 million designated for repairing the wastewater system serving Kah-Nee-Ta and the surrounding community.

The reopening of Kah-Nee-Ta Village is expected to generate 50 full-time jobs and over 80 part-time positions during the peak season, offering significant employment opportunities for the local community.
