The Albany Police Department is continuing to investigate a tragic incident that claimed the life of 16-year-old Paige Michael Charlene McClintock on the evening of January 16.
Officers responded at approximately 10:08 p.m. to a report of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash on Southeast 19th Avenue near Southeast Tudor Way. Paige, an Albany resident, suffered critical injuries and was transported by Albany Fire Department personnel to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, where she later died despite lifesaving efforts.
Preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle involved was a white 2005 Nissan Altima driven by Paige’s older sister, 18-year-old Kirah Kristine McClintock. Police say Kirah cooperated fully with investigators and that impairment does not appear to be a factor.
According to investigators, Paige and another sibling were pushing a rolling tool chest in the roadway when the vehicle struck the toolbox and Paige. Authorities stated the vehicle was moving at a slow, walking pace at the time. The Nissan Altima has since been seized under a search warrant for further examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
Paige was a student at Albany Options School. Greater Albany Public Schools announced that counselors and support teams will be available to students and staff when classes resume next week as the community mourns her loss.
As the investigation continues, community members have begun organizing a memorial in Paige’s honor. In a post shared by Rhiannon Allen in the Facebook group What's Up Albany, Oregon, residents are working to organize a muscle car cruise in memory of Paige. You can find the post by clicking here if you are interested in learning more.
According to the post, Paige had recently turned 16 and had just earned her driver’s license before the tragic accident. She was described as a beautiful, brilliant, and bright young woman who deeply loved her family, especially her sisters. She also had a passion for muscle cars and enjoyed fast, beautiful vehicles.
Organizers are asking community members with muscle cars — including Corvettes, Mustangs, Chargers, or any classic or high-performance vehicles — to participate in the memorial cruise. Those interested in taking part are encouraged to reach out through the group as planning continues.
The Albany Police Department asks anyone with information about the crash to contact Sgt. Eric Tress at 541-917-7680 and reference case number 26-00274.
