Man Blows Off Own Arm With Grenade Trying To Stop Car Thieves In Florence

Recently a man in Florence, Oregon suffered a horrific injury after trying to throw a homemade grenade at suspected car thieves in the middle of the night.

According to Florence Police, David Ray Allen saw four people near his car in the middle of the night and decided to throw a homemade grenade at them. However, when he attempted to throw the device, it exploded in his hand, causing him to lose part of his hand and arm. Police arrived on scene and discovered his injuries, along with human flesh, a lighter, burnt cardboard and a burnt fuse.

Allen now faces serious charges for disorderly conduct, unlawful possession of a destructive device, and manufacture of a destructive device. Arraignment is set for September 4th, 2025.
