A tragic hit-and-run on Highway 18 in Tillamook County left one 17-year-old dead and two others seriously injured earlier this month, and now authorities believe the driver responsible has fled the country.

The crash happened in the early hours of July 12 when 34-year-old Alejandro Lopez veered off the road, hitting three teens who were changing a flat tire on a parked Nissan Altima. After striking the boys, Lopez took off, and investigators say he likely left the U.S. to avoid arrest.

Two of the teens were hospitalized with severe injuries, and sadly, one of them later died from his wounds. An active warrant has been issued for Lopez, but with him believed to be out of the country, finding him is now the top priority.

This case remains under investigation, and local law enforcement is asking for any information that could help track down Lopez.
