Three people have been arrested in connection with the deaths of a man and a teenage girl found southeast of Oakridge on May 20, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives say the two victims showed signs of “homicidal violence.” Their names haven’t been released yet.
Oakridge, a small town nestled in the Cascade foothills about 40 miles southeast of Eugene, is known for its quiet charm, mountain biking trails, and outdoor recreation. A case like this—especially one involving children as suspects and victims—has left many stunned. Even in larger cities, cases like this are tragic; in a close-knit, rural community like Oakridge, it’s especially jarring.
The next day, police tracked down several individuals in a vehicle near 7th and Monroe in Eugene. Eugene Police’s SWAT team stepped in to detain them, and later that day, another person was taken into custody outside a home on Irving Road.

- A 16-year-old Eugene boy now facing two counts of first-degree murder, along with charges for strangulation, abuse of a corpse, and unlawful use of a firearm.
- A 15-year-old Eugene girl, charged with first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse.
- A 19-year-old Eugene man, booked on a charge of abuse of a corpse.
Authorities say there’s no ongoing threat to the public and no other suspects are being sought.
