The Portland Trail Blazers are now reporting that the team is 100% vaccinated for Covid-19, contributing to the league’s 90% vaccination rate. At a press conference Monday five-time All-Star and Olympic gold medalist Damian Lillard told reporters the choice was pretty simple for him. You can see his statement in the short video below:
According to the Oregonian, Lillard said, “I’m in a position where I need to really know what’s going on at all times and take the proper precautions that are associated with having a productive season.”
In the press conference, Lillard told reporters that he has had family die from Covid-19, and being vaccinated was a pretty simple choice for him as a way to protect himself and the people he loves.
“I’m not mad at people who say they need to do their research. But I have a lot of people in my family that I spend time around. I’m just not going to put their lives in danger. As a kid, I had to get shots my whole life.”
To the group of players who remain against it, Lillard continued. “Before I went to college, I had to get shots and I couldn’t tell you one thing about any of them.”
