Friday marks the grand opening of a new Chipotle Mexican Grill at SE 10th and Belmont in Portland. And with it, about 30 new jobs for Oregonians. With fresh, raw ingredients and sourcing from farms instead of factories, Chipotle’s mission to bring better food to everyone is spreading fast; they open a new store about every two days!
A Path From Employment to Career
The good news doesn’t end there. While the new chain location adds both full- and part-time jobs, it’s Chipotle’s phenomenal company culture that stands out. They encourage professional development for all their employees, from cashiers and kitchen crew all the way up to general managers and corporate opportunities. Chipotle fiercely promotes from within. Over 90% of Chipotle employees currently in leadership roles were originally hired in lower-level jobs at Chipotle. With mentoring and rewarding employee success, Chipotle strives to put employees on a solid career path.
Benefits for All
The tangible benefits are great, too. Both hourly and salaried, full- and part-time employees are eligible for health, dental, and vision insurance plans upon hire. Performance-based pay, free meals and uniforms, 401K contribution, and an education assistance program round out Chipotle’s diverse benefits package.
Supporting Local Communities
The opening of the new Chipotle restaurant in SE Portland means more than burritos and jobs; Chipotle is big on community engagement. They often host fundraiser nights for schools and non-profit organizations, offering 50% (so high a contribution it’s practically unheard of!) of proceeds raised by supporters back to the organization. Other Chipotle locations in Oregon have contributed to popular organizations like the Oregon Humane Society—raising over $10,000 for pets—and Friends of Trees. If your organization would like to run a fundraiser with them, you can visit your nearest Chipotle restaurant and speak with a manager, or visit their website.
You can find Oregon’s newest Chipotle restaurant at 910 SE 10th Ave in Portland. Open hours are 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week. Stop by to say hi and pick up a fresh burrito!
